Transformational Functional Fitness for Y Members

"The Y and PHCF changed my life. This programming, community and these coaches were critical to my success.  It’s amazing, it’s like having my CrossFit family with an entire YMCA wrapped around it.” -PHY Member

CrossFit is an elite fitness program that's accessible for everyone. Our classes and private coaching are based on the CrossFit program originally developed by legendary coach Greg Glassman.

CrossFit workouts are constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity. At Pleasant Hill CrossFit, you will not find any machines – instead, you will find kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls, sleds, and tons of open space for running, jumping, climbing, lifting, and throwing. The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and a CrossFit veteran can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity.

CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenal fitness in and of themselves or as a complement to your sport-specific training regime. Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten recognized fitness domains: cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.

CrossFit at the Y

CrossFit at the Y is supportive, accessible, and efficiently combines the most effective training methods in Weightlifting, Gymnastics and Cardio. At Pleasant Hill CrossFit, we focus on the process of achieving the healthiest and fittest version of YOU.

“Our understanding is that the needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind."  - Greg Glassman, Founder of CrossFit

Pleasant Hill CrossFit’s facility is unlike any other CrossFit gym – it is located in the Pleasant Hill YMCA, being the first, and only CrossFit affiliate to be part of a YMCA on the West Coast.

Our facility is outfitted with both, an indoor, and outdoor rig system with more pull-up bars and squat racks that you can imagine. Rowing machines, Echo Assault Bikes, bumper plates, rings, free weights, kettle bells, jump ropes, ghd, sandbags, med balls and slam balls. Our locker rooms have showers and lockers, and free WiFi.  Perhaps most importantly, we have plenty of parking.

Our Classes

GROUP CLASSES
These are traditional CrossFit classes that include a skill-based warm-up, skill or strength training, the Workout of the Day (or “WOD”), and mobility work. The workouts can always be scaled so that new athletes can workout alongside veteran athletes. On some days, the WOD will be a 10-20 minute metabolic conditioning workout that combines several movements or exercises that are grouped into sets and either completed for time or in as many rounds a possible (“AMRAP”). On other days, the class will focus on a strength piece (like a 1 rep max deadlift) followed by a shorter metabolic conditioning “finisher” workout.

Current Group Class Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 7am-8am

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5pm-6pm

PRIVATE COACHING
Private Coaching is an amazingly effective and efficient way to achieve your individual fitness goals. Your coach will work with you to identify and clarify your fitness goals, assess your movement, and design a program specifically targeted at improving your deficiencies and optimizing your strengths, thereby enabling you to achieve your goals as quickly as possible. Private coaching is recommended if you have been sedentary for a long period of time, are training for a specific sport or event, have significant health limitations, or just prefer the additional attention and accountability.

The CrossFit Program

CrossFit:
CrossFit is characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. CrossFit can be used to accomplish any goal, from improved health to weight loss to better performance. The program works for everyone—people who are just starting out and people who have trained for years.

The Workouts:
The magic is in the movements. Workouts are different every day and modified to help each athlete achieve his or her goals. CrossFit workouts can be adapted for people at any age and level of fitness.

The Lifestyle:
Off the carbs, off the couch. The CrossFit lifestyle—a combination of diet and exercise—is the key to fitness and long-term health.

The Community:
Your support network. With your built-in Y community plus 15,000 CrossFit affiliates around the world, there's no shortage of people who encourage and motivate each other in every class as they work toward their goals.
