Youth & Government

Youth & Government is a hands-on learning experience for middle and high school teens that builds vital leadership and social skills. Through a simulation learning process, participants play key positions in world politics and state government, learn about different cultures and ideas, and forge bonds with their peers. Delegates learn to work together and solve problems using a model democratic process. Our goal is to grow the next generation of civically engaged Californians.

Y-Scholars Program

The Y Scholars Program is a a 4-year college readiness program that guides low-income and first-generation high school students to pursue and obtain a college education. Y-Scholars attend workshops, individual coaching, and tutoring sessions to make progress on their college pathway and improve their student success skills.

Expanded Learning Program

An afterschool enrichment program that elevates youth's (K-8) voice and emotional intelligence so they flourish as future leaders. We provide nurturing safe spaces in school sites and hands-on activities for youth to cultivate their social emotional growth, healthy relationships, and leadership skills. Our daily afterschool activities include the following: homework support, enrichment workshops covering STEM and arts, and outside sports and exercise sessions.

Before and After School Care

We partner with school districts to provide affordable and accessible before and after school child care. Y Kids after-school programs serve kindergartners through middle-school students with a range of high-quality activities to explore and develop their interests and talents. Kids participate in interactive learning models that engage critical thinking skills, receive homework help from trained YMCA staff, and enhance their development, growth, and self-confidence.

Summer Day Camp

During the summer we host a variety Day Camp Programs for children entering grades K-6, with unique enrichment activities throughout the day. Camper weeks include songs, skits, themed activities, and a grand-finale “carnival” where campers enjoy relay races, contests, water games, and creative games they prepare throughout the week. All camps engage in games and activities that center around science, mathematics, and reading to minimize summer learning loss.

Overnight Camp

Camp Loma Mar is the YMCA East Bay’s oldest and best-known overnight camp, operating year-round on over one hundred acres of pristine mountain land next to Pescadero Creek. With extensive activities ranging from archery to arts and crafts and our zip line, we’re proud to offer the ultimate camping experience since 1914 through Family Camp and Summer Day Camp.
