Caring for our Community

For more than 100 years, we’ve been bringing families, neighbors and friends together in a safe and fun environment to learn, play and grow. With a local presence and national reach, our mission is to Empower Youth, Advance Health, and Strengthen Communities.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has compelled us to reimagine how we deliver on this mission and support our many members in need. Our commitment to nurturing potential and strengthening communities hasn't wavered.

Your generous gifts and sustained membership have allowed us to continue much of our vital community work. Take a look at the community milestones we've accomplished together and watch our Year of Impact video! Thank you for standing with the Y!

Digital Learning Hubs

YMCA Digital Learning Hubs are a safe and supportive space where our homeless and most under-resourced students can connect with their peers, stay on-track with virtual learning, and receive the emotional and academic support they need.

Caring for Essential Families

We have been able to safely open and operate 17 of our Child Care sites, and provide crucial care for our most vulnerable populations. Many of these families are part of the essential workforce, and by strictly adhering to CDC and State protocols, we can provide the care and wellness support they need to thrive.

Feeding Our Community

Each week at the Oakland Y this summer, our team assembled to distribute food to any Oaklander in need. Our Y teams in Richmond and Pinole are also answering the call to service with food distribution at various locations. This work wouldn't be possible without the generous support of our members. Thank you for helping us feed our community!

Giving Blood, Saving Lives

YMCA of the East Bay is playing a crucial role in addressing the blood shortage! Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, patients continue to require blood products for childbirth, cancer treatments, essential medical procedures, and everyday emergencies. To answer the call, we've teamed up with the Red Cross and Vitalant to host blood drives in Albany, Berkeley and Richmond.

A Year of Impact

Thank you to our 8,000 members who have stood with the Y this year. Without your membership donations, none of this vital work would have been possible.
